North Cascades, WA
June - October

North Cascades National Park is one of the more remote parks in the U.S. The vast majority of the park has no roads through it and the one major road closes during the winter due to the extreme snowfall. Depending on when access is restored, workshops are available from as early as June, but it can take until July on some years for roads to be cleared. The rewards are ample - some of the most breathtaking jagged peaks, glaciers, and alpine lakes are easily accessible. If you DO like to hike, there are trails that provide incredible views of Mt Baker and Mt Shuksan.

In the fall, larch trees turn a deep orange and provide a gorgeous color to the snow capped peaks. In the summer months, waterfalls are flowing and wildflowers begin to peek out where the snow melts. Expect a landscape that rivals the Alps and fewer crowds due to how spread out and sparsely populated the area is.

The downside is that lodging in the area is extremely limited, although if you are up for camping, the area offers a lot of options. A visit to the North Cascades needs to be planned carefully in order to get the most out of it - contact me below for more info!
